Junior Girls - Snow Queen Scholarship Application

The Snow Queen will make public appearances for the Children's Museum at all four museum locations, in addition to off-site museum events as scheduled by CMoR.

To be a Snow Queen candidate, you must:
  • be a high school junior
  • show a passion for working with children of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds
  • serve as a role model for your girls through your character and commitment to the museum's mission of inspiring creativity and individuality
Other Requirements:
  • Fill out application and submit 2 letters of recommendation by 5:00 pm, November 2nd, 2018
  • Be able to volunteer at least 50 hours as CMoR's Snow Queen during the reigning year (see application)

2017 Student Page Program

The Henrico County Electoral Board needs you! The Student Election Page program is designed to empower young Virginians to learn about the election process. It is a great opportunity for young adults to serve their community as well as:
  • Learn more about voting and how your political system works
  • Serve the citizens in your community
  • Earn valuable community service hours
To apply, one must meet the following requirements:
  • you must be a US citizen
  • Be between the ages of 16 (by 11/7/17) and 18.
  • Complete the online application at http://henrico.us/services/studentpage
  • Parental permission
  • Teacher or school counselor recommendation
  • Attend 1 training class offered by the Registrar's Office
  • Work the 7 hour shift for community service learning hours
Election Day tasks will include: greeting voters, handing out sample ballot, look up voters, help the Chief with paperwork, line control/directing voters, assisting with opening or closing the polls.

Calling Freshmen! Are you interested in learning how to be a leader here at Deep Run? Want to work with a peer mentor who can show you the in's and out's of what it takes to be successful? Want to go on field trips to local colleges and participate in team building and volunteer activities? Then apply to join Emerging Leaders! Applications can be found by clicking here and are due October 14th. Please see Ms. Bien or Ms. McGuire with any questions. 

Only the first 30 students to apply will be accepted! First come first served!

Saturday, May 14th, 2016
Volunteer Arrival: 8:15 am
Volunteer End: 11: 30 am
Location: VCU Health at Short Pump; 11958 West Broad St, Henrico, VA 23233
 
Volunteers are need to help with (please indicate which role you would prefer):
  •  Course Marshall (30 slots available) – volunteers will stand along the course route cheering on walkers and monitoring traffic to ensure the safety of participants.  Volunteers are encouraged to make encouraging signs, dress up in Green (the Arthritis Foundation’s signature color), and come to the Walk with a positive and upbeat attitude!
  • Food Services (3 slots available) – volunteers will oversee the refreshment table and pass out water and food to participants
  •  Kids Zone (5 slots available) – volunteers will lead games and help kids with crafts
  • VIP Zone (2 slots available) – volunteers will man the VIP zone and verify participants eligibility by checking for VIP name tags
