Longwood University will be hosting an informational interest meeting for a dual enrollment personal finance and economics course on Tuesday, March 27, from 6:30-7:30 pm. If you are interested in earning college credit in a condensed summer course, this course will meet those needs. To get more information on the dual enrollment personal finance and economics course, please, attend the interest meeting on March 27th at Deep Run HS or Henrico HS in the school’s auditorium.

Everyone who signed up for the lottery should have received an email let them know if they were selected or not for the summer 2018 Online Health and Physical Education class.
If selected, parents will need visit the school counseling office to register and pay for the class during the registration window, March 12-23. If students are not selected through the lottery, they will not be able to register in the counseling office. Registration is not complete until forms and payment are received in the student’s home-school counseling office.

If you still need to complete your Health & PE requirements and you are interested in Summer Online Health & PE, today is the last day to enter the lottery for one of the 500 spots in the course! Visit the website for more info and to enter the lottery before 4:00 PM.
The PowerSchool Parent Portal is now open for students and their families to make course selections for the fall of 2018. Students and their families can review core course recommendations made by teachers and make course selections by accessing the “Class Registration” icon in the portal. Both core and elective course selections can be made. The course selection window for students who are currently in grades 6-11 will close at 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16.

If you are interested in taking PE online this summer, you will need to sign up for the lottery here during the window of February 8-March 2. You will be notified if you have gotten a spot in the course by March 9. You must register between March 12-23 in order to keep that spot.

Edgenuity Credit Recovery is a program designed to allow students to fulfill graduation requirements through a web-based program aligned with VA & HCPS curriculum. The summer program is for HCPS students ONLY. Eligible students are required to take courses for Credit Recovery, not Initial Credit. While these courses will be accepted for credit towards graduation, they may not be accepted by the NCAA Clearinghouse for college athletics eligibility.
Attendance during this program is MANDATORY - no more than 3 absences permitted.
Students may take one credit recovery course for $300. If time permits, permission can be given for the student to take another course for no additional charge, pending completion of the first course.

4 week rigorous and intense online course offered by Longwood University. The course satisfies the state's economics and personal finance requirements as well as the online experience and certification requirements for high school graduation. The WISE Financial Literacy Certification post exam is administered in the course. Students will receive honors credit (.50) as well as college credit for those students who successfully complete this class with a C or better and later enroll in Longwood University as a degree seeking student will receive a 3-credit scholarship.
